About Tukio Images

Tukio Images derived from the Swahili word meaning “event’ or “happening”, is an ambitious African photography marketplace dedicated to editorial, news, and sports content. Founded by Samwel Ogor, a seasoned sports photographer based in Nairobi, Kenya, Tukio Images was born out of a deep frustration with the limited opportunities for African photographers to contribute their work to global media platforms. Too often, Africa’s narrative is told through external lenses, missing the raw authenticity and depth that local photographers can provide. Tukio Images seeks to change that by creating a platform where African photographers can share firsthand visual stories and, in turn, allow the world to See Africa Differently.

The Need & Impact

Despite Africa being a hub of vibrant cultures, dynamic sports scenes, and rapidly evolving socio-political landscapes, African photographers struggle to access global media markets. Existing platforms either undervalue African content or limit direct contributions, leaving a gap that Tukio Images aims to fill. By curating high-quality African images and making them accessible to media houses, brands, and agencies worldwide, we are not just telling stories—we are ensuring that African photographers get the recognition and financial reward they deserve.

The Support Needed

To bring Tukio Images to life, we require an initial investment of $5,000. These funds will cover:
